The Senior Girls basketball team has been having a nearly impossible season so far this year. The team is ranked #1 in AAA rankings and has an impressive 24-0 record, going undefeated in tournaments and league games!
This weekend the Senior Girls team competed at the Centennial Top Ten tournament. Only the best teams in British Colombia can participate in this high-level tournament, so the competition was fierce. The Gator Girls played their first game against Heritage Woods (#6) and won by 10 with a total score of 86-76. In their second game, the girls had an easy win against South Kamloops with an 82-50 outcome, which advanced them to the finals. It was expected to be a close game between our #1 ranked Walnut Grove and #2 ranked Kelowna. However, the Gator Girls had a great game and finished with a 19 point win (83-64) over Kelowna! Not only were they named the tournament champs, but WGSS Tavia Rowell also received tournament MVP and Natalie Rathler was awarded 1st team All-Star. Just this last December, Jessica Wisotzki was also named tournament MVP; read all about it in the linked article!
Keep an eye out for the WGSS Senior Girls basketball team who (with their successful tournament wins) are now favourites to go to provincials and win it all!
