Dr. Luke, Innocent Or Guilty Of Abuse?

We all know about the conflict between Kesha and Dr. Luke. Kesha claims that she is being both sexually and physically abused by Dr. Luke. She protested and requested to be released from a recording contract with the producer, but the judge denied it.

A lot of support and encouragement has been given to Kesha from people everywhere and by several high profile celebrities as well.Taylor Swift donated $250,000 in a show of solidarity and Adele publicly supported Kesha at the Brits and Halsey and in the Radio 1 Live Lounge on Thursday.

Sony Music has joined the side of produrcer Dr. Luke and, with the help of the judge, Kesha was forced to honor her contract with Dr. Luke’s recording studio. Sony believes right now is not the time to end the contract with Dr. Luke and Kesha saying that:

“We are not in a position to terminate the contractual relationship between Luke and Kesha.”

The circumstance in general brought up a huge protest among the people. Shameema Mohammed, age 15, skipped school to attend the protest, saying this is why women stay silent in these conflicts. Anthony Correia, age 18, sought justice for Kesha. But he said that his resolve grown into something greater than what he intended. Alongside with these two people, many more people were at the protest, demanding for the freedom of Kesha.

The response from internet users has been overwhelming, with people being divided on the issue. Some believe that the judge had no choice but to honour the contract which is legally binding. Others are of the opinion that Kesha should be exempt from her contract and that the judge should have made an exception for her case. The hashtag #freekesha has been reposted many times.

All over the world, people have been taking sides and Kesha hasn’t gotten her way yet. In the meantime, Dr. Luke denied all allegations through public comments on social media on Monday, stating that he is not guilty of any inappropriate beahviour. Kesha is still standing firm on her accusations against Dr. Luke.

“This is about being free from my abuser. I would be willing to work with Sony if they do the right thing and break all ties that bind me to my abuser.”- Kesha
