The first ever handball intramurals are happening at WGSS! They will take place on Tuesday February 23rd to Friday March 4th at lunch. They will include seven student teams and one staff team. Ms. Atkins, who took over Mr. Kitteringham’s position when he transitioned to VP is running this event, and says there are a few things you should know.
One of these to keep in mind is that it is an elimination tournament which means that teams are only guaranteed one game.
Also, before watching or even playing handball it is important to know some of the sport’s important rules.
- The only person who can go into the goalie’s crease is the goalie. Any goal scored while in the crease is not valid.
- No unsportsmanlike behavior is permitted. If any was to occur, it could result in that team’s elimination from the tournament.
- No arguing with the refs! Probably the hardest rule to follow in sports for both players and spectators alike.
The deadline to enter a team has already passed and spots have already filled up. However, you can still come and cheer on your favorite teams if you enjoy the sport of Handball!
