It’s been a little over a month since social distancing started for the majority of people in British Columbia. Like many others, I’ve not been spending that extra time by studying, exercising or doing anything remotely productive. Instead, I watched, and am currently watching, loads of TV. By now, many of you, my fellow Walnut Grove Secondary School students, must be scrounging around streaming sites for new shows to binge-watch. I’m here to share with you some of my recent favourite TV Shows!
📍 Prison Break (2005 – Present??)
Where you can watch: Netflix
WENTWORTH MILLER (!!!) is one of the cutest and prettiest middle-aged man that there is out there in the world. One of a kind. A gem. He plays Michael Scofield, a genius structural engineer, who infiltrates into prison to break-out his brother, Lincoln Burrows, who has been wrongfully accused of murder. The plot is very detailed and I definitely recommend the show 100/10!
The reason why there are TWO question marks after “Present” is because there may be a new season! Some of the actors and actresses on the show have been posting some sly “announced” posts on Instagram. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but I remain hopeful.
📍 Hanna (2019 – Present)
Where you can watch: Amazon Prime
This show follows Hanna, an extraordinary girl (literally extraordinary), in her efforts to evade a relentless off-the-books CIA agent. It’s a mix of thriller, action and coming-of-age, which creates an exciting tone. The show is based of the 2011 movie (also named Hanna), which is another great watch. A new season (season 2) is set to release on Prime on July 3rd!
📍 Peaky Blinders (2013 – Present)
Where you can watch: Netflix
When someone asks me what my favourite show is, I have always have to say Peaky Blinders. The reason why I love Peaky Blinders is not only the fact that it stars Cillian Murphy (although that is one of the primary reasons), but the wonderful acting, intriguing plot and the insightful navigation of common themes such as friendship, family and loyalty. The show follows Tommy Shelby, the head of a criminal gang based in Birmingham in 1919, on his rise to power and politics.
📍 Blacklist (2013 – Present)
Where you can watch: Netflix
The Blacklist is a crime-thriller show that follows Raymond Reddington, a high-profile criminal who turns himself in to the FBI with a blacklist, a list of the most dangerous criminals in the world. He willingly offers himself as a criminal informant, under the condition that he works with Elizabeth Keen, a rookie profiler, in exchange for immunity. The compelling and intriguing story-line of the show is definitely one of the reasons why I love it so much.
Honourable mentions include: Money Heist (Netflix), Itaewon Class (Netflix) and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon Prime)! All three of the shows have a fantastic cast, funny dialogue and intriguing plot which makes them definitely a worthy watch.
With the honourable mentions, the list is complete! Thank you for reading and let us know what your favourite TV shows are down below!
