Review: The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

Writer, Madeleine Hanson

Two weeks after the series finale of Marvel’s first TV series, WandaVison, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier came out on Disney+ on March 19th. After watching WandaVison, Marvel fans had very high hopes for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. So far, the series has yet to let down the excitement from fans, including myself. Unlike the previous, WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is more similar to a Captain America movie or any other MCU movie.

It has many for fight and action scenes like Marvel movies typically do and seems to be continuing on with the same storylines from previous MCU movies. From here on there will be some spoilers about the show, you’ve been warned…

Disclaimer: *SPOILER ALERT*

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is starring both characters, who were Captain America’s best friends. There are also many other characters who are in this series from the MCU like Sharron Carter from the Captain America movies, Baron Zemo from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Ayo from Black Panther and James Rhodes from Iron Man. As I said previously, the storyline so far has been connected to the storyline in previous Captain America movies. With the whole SuperSoldier and Hydra storylines.

Sam Wilson AKA The Falcon and Bucky Barnes AKA The Winter Soldier have been brought together at the sight of a new Captain America. It doesn’t seem right to have any other Captain America than Steve Rogers, but I guess America needed someone.

At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Captain America’s shield was given to Sam, but he gave it back to the government, thinking he wasn’t worthy and I’m sure every fan thought the opposite. At the end of the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, America revealed the new Captain America.

Since then, Sam and Bucky have found themselves working together against a group of super soldiers fighting for what they think is right. This is where the connection to the MCU movies comes in because Sam and Bucky suspect it is the same group of villains from previous Captain America Movies. They also team up with characters from previous movies as I mentioned, like Sharron Carter and Baron Zemo. I’m not going to give away too much and ruin the excitement of the show, but I 100% recommend watching it if you’re a marvel fan. If you haven’t seen the MCU movies, I definitely suggest watching those first!
