Track and Field Team Looking Good Heading into Upper Fraser Valleys

Track and Field Team Looking Good Heading into Upper Fraser Valleys

The WGSS track and field team has had a great start to their season so far. Between their successful manure sale, competing at the Oregon Relays, and running well at the South Fraser meet this weekend, the team is excited and ready to compete at the Upper Fraser Valley Track and Field Championship that start May 3rd.

The Oregon Relays were held at historic Hayward Field from April 14th to 15th. A select group of Walnut Grove team members made their way down to Eugene, Oregon hoping for a great start to their season. Katie Laface (grade 9), who could have competed as a freshman, challenged herself and competed with the older athletes. It paid off as she won her first race of the season all the while achieving a personal best. Another great result was the senior boys who ran the distance medley and ran fast enough to set a new school record! Congrats guys, and to all the athletes who competed at Oregon!

While not all the team members went down to Eugene, most athletes competed in a track meet that was a little closer to home this past weekend. Gator Nation was well represented by the many athletes who competed at the Fraser Valley High School Invitational Track Meet at Bear Creek Park on April 22. Many athletes won medals in their respected events and dozens of athletes went home with ribbons. Overall, it was a great meet for the gators even in terrible weather. Great job to all of the athletes who participated in the track meet!

The Walnut Grove track team takes on the Upper Fraser Valley Track and Field Championship on May 3rd and 4th. Make sure to show your school spirit and come out and support your team!
